The Maïdo and Mafate

Arrived around 6 am at the Peak of Maïdo (2200 m) and the show begins. A breathtaking view of the whole circus of Mafate and the chains and summits that surround it: Roche Ecrite, Gros Morne / Piton des Neiges, Grand Bénare, … in the distance the Piton de la Fournaise which seems to be in a good day …

After the sunrise on the Col des Boeufs the circus lights up gradually revealing one after another its small villages lost in the background, its valleys, reliefs. He seems to resist this morning the attempts to invade the masses of clouds from the walls of the East and South.

This is really one of the best places to watch this great landscape and we have benefited greatly.
