It starts pretty well and the first contact with the Reunion island is rather promising. A plane that leaves and arrives on time, a car rental delivered in a few minutes, a beautiful trip by the coast between the airport and our “case” (it’s the way they call the houses here) and here we are set ready to explore some of the riches of this welcoming island. A first stop at a restaurant is needed after the trip (French Bee is good, but the dietician who decides menus is not very generous). And there, all of a sudden, the waitress stopped her job shouting “whales!”; the show lasted the time of our meal: a whale and his calf romp 500 m in front of us just beyond the coral reef. Unfortunately you will not have photos of this episode: a little far for the purpose of the IPhone, we reserve for further comments (if all goes well). We will console ourselves with our first sunset with the particularities that we had forgotten: in the tropics the sunsets do not last very long and the night falls quickly then, and in the southern hemisphere the sun goes down to the left (more scientific explanation available on request). So we offer tonight some shots quickly taken on the terrace of our case facing the lagoon. Then rest and a very interesting program awaits us tomorrow.
