Andernos oyster harbour at high tide and sunset
Andernos oyster harbour at high tide and sunset

After an excellent Christmas meal it is recommended to take a little digestive walk before moving on to the next meal, and so on…

The weather is with us: mild temperature, low sun playing with the clouds, weak to no wind, high tide. We arrive at the oyster port of Andernos, the water is flat reflecting a few clouds and a waning winter sun light.

We continue quietly towards the center and the pier which, although not leading anywhere, is still a strong point of attraction for many onlookers.

A kayaker, the only human on the water on this day, plays with the rays of the sunset.

We will not be entitled to a flamboyant spectacle this evening, but a curious phenomenon makes all the clouds of the sky gather in a regular band which masks the sun and gives the impression that a giant wave has formed in the distance and will engulf the spectators of this end of the day.

Spoiler: nothing happened and the wave evaporated naturally …

Happy New Year celebrations to everyone and see you next year with maybe photos from a sunny island …
