Little activity today, I take the opportunity to publish some photos taken last week that I had no time to treat.
We visited last Wednesday the Domaine du Café Grillé in Saint Pierre. They present a botanical garden with several thousand species in a pedagogical form from the modern tropical garden to a reconstruction of the primary forest of the island through the garden of all-purpose plants used to treat everything and the a nourishing garden that made it possible to survive in times of scarcity experienced by the inhabitants in not so old times. The mourongue (Moringa Oleifera) is part of this last category and is presented as an essential element that every garden should possess.
Our guide was passionate about the history of Reunion which was marked by the cultures that successive leaders have imposed with sometimes not so good consequences. The name of the Domaine is related to the coffee, of which it is one of the rare producers of a species called « Bourbon Pointu » a mocha (or Arabica) present on the island before the colonization and which was despised at the beginning because wild. Recently rehabilitated it is today one of the most expensive coffees of the world.
Some illustrative photos followed to conclude by the traditional sunset over the sea.
